Six weeks before the wedding, the bride starts to train in the special dances that she will dance on the day of ‘Subhia’ , the first day of the marriage. Two days before the wedding the bride invites her female friends for El henna. On this day, ‘El Hanana’, the woman comes to decorate the hands and legs of the bride with henna and she and her female friends dance, sing, and spend a happy day together. That night the groom also has his Henna night with his male friends and women relatives. The groom doesn’t decorate his legs only his fingertips and bottom of feet. In the groom ‘Henna party’ right before the wedding, his mother, sisters, and aunts get together, sit him on a decorated bed, and put henna on his feet and the palms of his hands (not drawing). In addition, some of his male friends do the same on their hands.
The wedding party ‘Al Dukhla’ takes place in houses, large tents, in the streets or in the clubs. The bride’s family gets a singer for this cheerful night. There is a lot of music and dancing and a beautiful dinner is served for the relatives and guests. Everyone is invited and everyone is happy. The bride wears a white wedding gown and the groom wears a full suit or ‘jalabbiya’ (garment) and turban.
On the first day of the marriage, ‘Al Subhia’, the bride’s mother invites all the women of the family and the female friends of the bride. Only certain men can attend ‘El Subhia’: the bride’s father, brothers, uncles, and the groom. The bride dances three or four dances for her audience, changing dresses for each dance. A woman sings and drums on the ‘dallooka’ songs that all the girls know, and they all sings along, clap and have a great time!
After she finish dancing, it’s time for the final ritual it calls the ‘jirtig’. It has special traditions, and a special red and yellow tray with pottery to put the perfumes and ‘bakhoor’ in. the bride changes into a colorful tobe, the famous Sudanese costume and sits with her new husband on a bed with a beautifully decorated red and gold sheet called “milayat aljirtig”. All the elder women are around them, and one of the older women comes and wishes the happy couple wealth, health and the blessing of children upon them. She perfumes them both, singing meanwhile, and ties the red ‘hareera’ and ‘hilal’ around the groom’s head, and the ‘sibhat el_yassur’ around his nick.
Then, the groom gets up and sprays the audience with perfume. Then the woman offers them a cup of milk. They both take a drink and spray some of it over each other a sign of love, piece and hope for a clean, pure life together _ pure as milk!
About a month before wedding, the bride’s mother, sisters, and aunts start making her special perfumes and clothes to get ready for the big day, or should we say, the big DAYS! All these perfumes are mixed to make the bride’s special perfumes. It’s a lot of work, and takes weeks to finish!
There are some types of folkloric rituals that take place in Northern Sudanese weddings. Elsubhiya, Eldukhla, and the clothes that made especially for the bride are dominant. A bright dress, a colorful “firka” or “garmasees”, and lots of gold! What is more, we can’t forget the bride’s henna! Sudanese wedding events are enjoyable. All relatives and friends are ever happier.

No electricity No water
Hi everyone,
This time I'm writing about the most important things in the life(Electricity and water).
At latest few days the capital of Sudan was suffring to obtain water and electricity too.
We stay more than 12 hours without water daily or every two days! and about the electricity it is worest.
The weather is hot and the electricity is not available for 9 hours, why?
I called emergency office of Bahri's electricity and asked them "Why the electricity is not available?" they said "This is programed cut and it will be for 7 hours" ????!!!!
The manager of National Electricity Corporation said the electricity will not be cut with out damaged in network, but is there a damaged daily? And how long it take to be resolved ?
Everyday we go to river, get water and wait for the National Electricity Corporation to get back electricity.
Until when we will live like this?

Together with our president
Today, the International court took a decision of arrest the president of republic of Sudan – Omar Hassan Al-Bashier- according to the note of the general pretender L.Ockampo.I'm not political, but I'm Sudanese citizen. It's important to me for living safely inside my country, and nobody wants Sudan to be another Iraq.
In 2003 ex USA president took a decision of starting war in Iraq because they want to arrest the ex president of Iraq, they said "Iraq has extensive devastation weapons ", but until now we didn't see any
weapons. It was a trap to destroy the Iraq and exploit its resources.Now, it is turn of Sudan they took Darfur as a way to do the same with the Sudan. So we will not give up and accept arresting our president and destroying our country. So we will stand by our president and help him to show the truth that happened in Darfur and uncover the real enemies of this country who playing dirty game which can put our country in danger.
Sudanese people are in streets since the decision was taken. They swore to keep our president and country safe. So if anybody tried to arrest our president we will face him with force to keep ourselves and home safe.

Deserved to be thanked
Hi everyone,
Sorry for being lazy all this time, and I hope to write weekly from now.
This time I'm going to tell you a real story happened in the latest few weeks.
In our university it's not possible to enter the university without paying your full fees.
There was a girl, she wasn't able to pay the second part of her fees (450$). we went to the manager of the university but he doesn't allow us to meet him, as his assitance did.
We tried all ways to pay these fees, but we couldn't.
Finally, I wrote a note to Mustafa Abo-Alaza'em the editor-in-chief of "Akhir Lahza" (it's a newspaper ).
one day after, he published the note on the newspaper, and two days later they call me to help that girl to pay her fees.
I went to newspaper's offices and met him, they surprised me by paying the fees off that Student.
So I want to thank all of people who helped to rescue that student specially "Akir Lahza", "Friendship Hall " manager, and "Wakfs Authority- khartoum state".
They deserved to be thanked for all what they did.

Teacher, mother, and friend
Sorry for disconnecting all this time but what to do, I'm writing only when I have writing mood which I wasn't in for the latest four months.
I was disappointed and annoyed as result of my weakness. I was feeling that the life will stop and the world will be destroyed.
I lost a friend, got illness in my heart and suffering in dealing with my family. One day, I lost the hope which made me think for 3 hours asking myself what is wrong in my life.
I sent an e-mail to my dear teacher (Hala), she gave me some advices that I followed most of them then I discovered that there is nothing can make the world stop (except God) and everything that was broken will be fixed.
I learned that the true friends are really rare, and whatever my family did they will still my family. The doctors gave me hope to medicate my heart sickness.
Now, I came back to my study and it's going well. This year I'll never allow for anyone to get higher marks than me, 'cause my study became the only important thing in my life right now, and other things will come and go.
At last, I'm very grateful for teacher Hala who showed me how to live and helped me to arrange my life.

Could you leave your children?
I think it's a big shame when we ask parents this question, but what we can call it when the answer became yes?! And when it comes from the each one of parents?!!
In the movies we saw that parents go to law to keep their children with them, but during the latest few months I saw and hear these words from three divorced couple, and married one.
Every one of parents doesn't want to keep his/her children with him/her. About the divorced couple one of them divorced after 21years of marrying, and some of their daughters are married!
All of this is stranger, but why it happened? Is it for the financial situation? No, this can't make the parents leave their children. All that I could understand that is the social situation became bad here.
After divorce, the couple starts a speech war without caring to their children. They extract secrets of each other to the people who tell these secrets to the children which make them take wrong ideas about their parents.
As the time go, the will hate their parents more and more and tell the people how they feel as 15 years girl that said to me: "We haven't a family and our parents didn't want us".
That child told me about her secrets while I'm not a member of her family because she wants someone to hear from her, gives him her secrets, and gets help from him.
These conditions make children without supervision which mean that they can do whatever they want to find their selves.

Sorry for absence
Dear all,
I'm so sorry for not connecting all this time, but my life doesn't allow me to make activities more than study.

Disvaluing the time
Hi,
In Sudan it's normal if you being late for more than hour, The government tried to solve this problem by adding one hour to the local time (Khartoum was +2 GMT and now they made it +3 GMT); but there is no different because Sudanese people don't respect their time.
These days, we are waiting for our college result. It should be on 21 Aug, but every day we go to university for the result and the heads and the dean of our college are giving us delusive dates. We are going daily since 21 Aug but until this moment (27 Aug 10:18 p.m.) there is no new news about result.
This thing happens in different fields even the medical field. I face the problem of losing time in dealing with the bank, When my family send money to me it arrive within 3 hours, but the employees never banking it in my account before 4 hours from arriving time!
In medical field you may not find the doctor in his position because he will come late, without caring about the patients.
If I want to write about disvaluing the time I will never stop; because it has no limit.

Always faults?!
Hi everyone, Sorry for being lazy all this time, but what to do I was studying for exams and I was very ill.
I know that maybe I lost many things in my life but I believe that god will never forget me.
Today, I'm going to write about something I'm suffering from it every semester and every end of year. I'm going to write about the faults in different fields.
In the education field I faced faults five times just while my study in university. Every semester I prepare myself to write a request to faculty's head, because I will find myself unable to do one of my exams because they made a fault by putting my name with the students those not allowed to do the exams because of their absence.
This thing happened to me four times, and I feel that these faults are intended, if I face this fault one or two times maybe it will be wrong ,but four times it's not only faults.
In Sudan, everything is possible if you have authority, you can do whatever you want because nobody can ask you.
In health field, in the latest few days I read about many faults happened during the surgeries and many of patients was died. One time they forgot to extract the muslin from tummy of a woman.
The faults are ordinary thing in Sudan, So you should be attention to everything to get your rights.

What is right?
Here I am again; I'm going to write about general topic but covered with a personal action.
When you want to separate between your work and the social life you will find that is difficult – especially in Sudan- because it's not possible to work without make a social relations with your friends who work with you.
I tried to do that but I failed, because I took the wrong way. I separated my social life from my work (study) but after 14 months I found that I'm mixing between them, because I'm living in a mixed community and I couldn't be different.
The story began when I was trying to help one of my colleagues to pay her fee. I became so near from her and I know everything about her life, so I talked with her for 8 months before I found that I'm talking to her about my life. This is not bad thing but it made us a target of others speech. In our community it's wrong if you have a friend from other sex which means if you male all of your friends should be males.
May this thing is saving our life from many problems, but why we didn't accept the relation between man and woman while it's going on the right way? I'm not with those who want to have a free community but I want to have a friendship relation to allow to people to know each other more and more.
These relations should be seen by parents and controlled by religion and customs to be valid to build a complement community that will be able to deal with other communities and with its members.
As I said this is personal opinion and I want your opinions to decide if I'm going on the right way or not, so please vote to the poll that exist on the right of this page to help me to make a decision.
